  1. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE WITH STS

Shipping is international and is characterized with highly cyclical freight markets.

STS is buying vessels at the best market in asset values for acquisitions. Market values of dry bulk vessels experienced a sharp decrease and most of our competitors have high acquisition costs for their assets that will not allow them to experience the benefits of a market recovery.

STS offers a unique investment opportunity to fully benefit from a market recovery on dry bulk industry.

  1. HANDY VESSELS OVERVIEW

Dry Bulk shipping is an essential Shipping sector providing a worldwide distribution method for a range of vital commodities such as iron ore, coal, grain, bauxite, phosphate, sugar, steel and timber which are transported in “bulk” form loose within cargo holds, as opposed to carried in containers or other unit loads.

Several factors make Handy bulk carriers more flexible than other sizes. These ships can carry anywhere from 20.000 to 40.000 tons of cargo which would be unprofitable for large bulk carriers. Also the technical and design features introduced on the Handy vessels make them ideal for bulk cargo trade. With the ship’s overall length also called LOA maximum at 170 meters Handy, it is slightly smaller than the Handymax and Panamax that come under the 40.000 dwt class and comes with on board cranes. Handy vessels carry widest range of cargos in Dry Bulk fleet.

Many ports that can handle 30.000 – 40.000 tones vessels easily, whose draft ranges between 9,5-12 meters. With no draft restrictions, freight rates will benefit as the vessel can load higher quantity than a big vessel. Some ports in the world have draft restrictions thus precluding full utilization by larger ships. However, handy vessel can enter many ports in the world.

Handy size vessel generally designed with four cranes for loading and discharging cargo, while others rely on shore side equipment. Thus, Handy Vessels work at ports where other ships do not have a chance to enter.

Several different cargoes can be carried economically in the various cargo holds of Handy bulk carriers vessels and delivered to various ports safely.
